ZZTPatch allows you to disable certain, sometimes annoying, messages in ZZT. Ever been bothered by the "A fake wall - a secret passage!" message? Well, this program can disable that message. Just read on. To use ZZTPatch, do the following (where C:\ZZT is your ZZT directory): 1) Unzip ZZTPATCH.ZIP 2) If you have not already done so, type "UNLZEXE C:\ZZT\ZZT.EXE" at the DOS prompt. 3) Type "ZZTPATCH C:\ZZT" and tell ZZTPatch which messages to disable. Please note that the version message in the opening screen is also patched. It reads "Patched v3.2" rather than "Version 3.2". If at any time you wish to reenable any message that you have disabled, simply run ZZTPatch as described above and when you are asked if you wish to disable that message, type N. ZZTPatch can disable the following messages, which are located at the following offsets in the _unpacked_ ZZT.EXE: Decimal Offset | Message ---------------------------------------------- 22421 | Ammunition - 5 shots... 22560 | Gems give you Health! 23729 | Torch - used for... 24026 | A path is cleared... 24155 | A fake wall... 24597 | Your way is blocked by water. 66859 | Room is dark - you need...
